Gender Equity

Gender equity means fairness of treatment for women and men, according to their respective needs. This may include equal treatment or treatment that is different, but which is considered equivalent in terms of rights, benefits, obligations, and opportunities.

Boys, Girls and Young People. It is a basic and fundamental right for all people including boys, girls and young people regardless of gender. And it is key for the full realization of children's rights.

Promoting Gender Equity

PAM has been promoting Gender equity in its project implementations. This includes working with women (who are considered vulnerable in society) in most of its projects.

Empowering Women in Western and Southern Provinces

The project was implemented in partnership with Conservation Farming Unit (CFU) and Non-Governmental Organizations Coordinating Council (NGOCC) and in collaboration with the Ministries of Agriculture (MoA), Fisheries and Livestock (MoFL), Community Development and Social Services (MCDSS); Department of Forestry, Land Alliance and National Food and Nutrition Commission (NFNC).

Project Impact

Programme Against Malnutrition worked with small scale farmers through a total of 130 women groups to scale up successful E-WAS Phase I interventions. The project addressed social, economic, and traditional barriers that limit women to effectively engage in productive activities by scaling up gender-sensitive strategies that respond to environmental and food insecurity crises caused by climate change.
