World Nutrition Day Celebration

At Programme Against Malnutrition (PAM), we are dedicated to improving food and nutrition security, reducing malnutrition, and fostering agricultural resilience among small holder farmers in Zambia.

In celebration of this day, we shine a spotlight on the Drought Emergency Response (DER) Project in Zambia’s Southern Province (Gwembe District) and Western Province (Nkeyema and Luampa Districts) which we have been implementing since August 2024.

PAM has been distributing Salt, High Energy Protein Supplements (HEPS), Vegetable cooking oil and chlorine to the most vulnerable households affected by the 2024 drought. This relief assistance seeks to support the communities with food aid, improve Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) services, and build long-term community resilience among the most vulnerable groups.

Priority has been given to malnourished children under five, pregnant and lactating women, women- and child-headed households, people living with disabilities, the elderly, and other severely food-insecure households.

PAM aligns its mandate to the National Food and Nutrition Policy and the UN Nutrition goals which include:

  • Promote healthy eating habits
  • Enhancing Food and Nutrition Security by ensuring access to essential nutrients
  • Support sustainable agriculture
  • Advocate for nutrition policies that benefit all

Join us in celebrating World Nutrition Day and let's strive for a healthier, and well nourished world! #WorldNutritionDay #NutritionForAll #HealthyLiving
